Arab countries cope with water scarcity complicity

Hundreds of Arab water resources, water experts and decision-makers on the 5th gathered in the Jordanian capital Amman, who attended the opening of the "Arab Water Week" conference, called on Arab countries to develop common strategies to address water scarcity and the resulting series problem.

Su Maya Princess Royal Jordanian Academy of Sciences, said at the opening ceremony, Jordan is ranked fourth in the world's most water-scarce countries, annual per capita share of water resources is only 140 cubic meters. Water scarcity on food security, environmental sustainability and overall economic and social development has brought enormous pressure and challenges. She called on Arab countries to strengthen coordination and cooperation to jointly develop solutions of the policy.

The experts said that high population growth and environmental climate change problem of water scarcity in the Arab world have become increasingly prominent, the region's per capita share of water is 800 cubic meters, lower than the world average of 10%, and there is uneven distribution of water resources in areas such as problem.

The "Arab Water Week" organized by Federation of Arab water utilities with Jordan jointly organized by the Ministry of Water and Irrigation, there were from 17 Arab countries and regions, more than 400 representatives. Also held during the meeting on water conservancy new technology and equipment exhibition.
