Why Grow Flowers Under Film:
Covering a flower crop with film gives the grower direct control over temperature, light, humidity and carbon dioxide concentration, and that control is what keeps a crop uniform and holds the quality of cut flowers and potted plants at a high level. It also removes the seasonal restriction of open field growing, so the house can produce flowers through the year and supply buyers without gaps. Species that will not grow in the local climate can be introduced and acclimatised under cover instead. Our flower greenhouse range is supplied with drip irrigation for greenhouses, and the frame of every house is hot dip galvanized steel rated for 15-20 years of service and backed by a 10-year structural warranty.
Flower Crops by Temperature Group:
Flower crops are not hardy plants, so they will not overwinter in cold temperate regions and a covered house is needed to meet their growing requirements. The temperature they need differs widely between species. Grouped by the temperature they are held at, greenhouse flowers fall into four bands:
◆ Cold room flowers: the house is held at 2 to 5 ℃, for example bamboo palm, cycads and other foliage plants.
◆ Low greenhouse flowers: semi hardy types held at 5 to 8 ℃, for example Primula.
◆ Temperature greenhouse flowers: mostly subtropical origin and held at 8 to 15 ℃, for example Calceolaria and fuchsias.
◆ High temperature greenhouse flowers: tropical origin, held at 15 to 25 ℃, for example Codiaeum.
Sizing and Siting a Flower House:
A flower house should be built on land with a low water table, an adequate supply of clean water, convenient drainage and irrigation, and loose fertile soil that is free of pollution. The usual rule is that the house runs north to south, with the air vents placed on the east and west sides. The advantage of this is:
(1). It helps keep the humidity inside the house down;
(2). It reduces shading between the rows of crops, so light reaches the beds evenly;
(3). In winter it keeps an excessive amount of cold north wind out of the house during ventilation, while still allowing enough air exchange.
Manufacturing and Support:
The houses come from our own greenhouse factory, which has been building greenhouses for more than 35 years, covers over 180,000 square meters and employs 378 people. We deliver projects to more than 32 countries, and every order is supplied with layout drawings and an installation manual, with engineers available for guidance during assembly. If you want to know more about the commercial greenhouse range or about our film greenhouses, please send an E-mail to sales@cngreenhouses.com.
Published research on protected cultivation comes from bodies such as the ISHS, while day to day industry practice is reported by trade media such as Horticulture Week.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: When will my greenhouse be ready to ship?
A: Around 1 month after we receive the deposit. Every greenhouse is custom-built, so the exact schedule is confirmed when the order is placed.
Q: What quality certifications does Bozong hold?
A: Yes. Our factory holds ISO9001 quality management system certification.
Q: Will the greenhouse arrive complete and ready to assemble?
A: Every shipment contains three parts: the metal structures, the covering system, and the installation accessories. All parts are packed for container shipping and arrive ready for assembly on site.
Q: Can I order just one greenhouse?
A: Our greenhouses are custom-built for each project, and the minimum order quantity is 1 set. You can order a single house and we will design it around your site, your crops and your local climate.
Q: Which flower species can be grown in a film greenhouse?
A: It depends on the temperature the species needs. Cold room flowers such as bamboo palm and cycads are held at 2 to 5 degrees Celsius, low greenhouse flowers such as Primula at 5 to 8 degrees, temperature greenhouse flowers such as Calceolaria and fuchsias at 8 to 15 degrees, and high temperature flowers such as Codiaeum at 15 to 25 degrees.
Q: How should the site for a flower greenhouse be chosen?
A: Look for a low water table, a reliable clean water supply, easy drainage and irrigation, and loose fertile soil free of pollution. Run the house north to south and place the air vents on the east and west sides, which keeps humidity down, spreads light evenly over the beds and keeps cold north wind out in winter.
