What Is a Bio-Safety Research Greenhouse For?:
A research greenhouse is built to a higher specification than a commercial production house because the work inside it has to be repeatable and, in many cases, contained. It is used for animal safety trials, biological safety testing, plant inspection and quarantine, and for teaching and demonstration experiments. Where a production house is judged on yield, a research house is judged on whether two compartments given different treatments are truly isolated from each other, and whether the trial gives the same answer when it is repeated next season. The two photos above show a glass research house built in that role, with an all-aluminum frame and glazed walls.Multi-Compartment Isolation:
The house is divided into separate rooms rather than one open floor, and each compartment runs as its own experiment. Each room has its own climate control, its own ventilation and its own irrigation zone, so that pollen, pests, water and spray from one trial cannot reach the next. The compartment walls, doors and working width are set at the drawing stage to match the trials you plan to run, because moving a wall after the house is built is not practical. We also design the greenhouse irrigation systems so that each compartment can be fed and metered independently.Waste Treatment and Access Control:
For safety-level work, the design goes beyond climate control. Waste water and solid material can be plumbed so that it is treated to a non-toxic state before leaving the site, and a computer or monitoring system is fitted to log temperature, humidity and light in every compartment. Door registration systems are common on research houses, so that who enters which room and when is recorded - a basic requirement for controlled trials and for inspection and quarantine work.Frame, Cover and Optional Systems:
The structure is hot-dip galvanized steel pipe to avoid rust, with good light transmission and insulation. The standard cover uses 8mm double-wall polycarbonate sheet and 5mm glass; where maximum light and clear observation matter, we build on the glass greenhouse models we produce, and where heat retention matters more than peak light we use the PC sheet greenhouse form. Beyond the basic frame, we can add cooling and heating, ventilation, fertilization, shading, benches and fill-light systems, all planned into the house at the drawing stage rather than retrofitted later. The structure ships as metal frame, covering system and installation accessories.Sizing, Delivery and Ordering:
Tell us the trials you plan to run, the number and size of compartments, the set points you need to hold, the safety level required and your site conditions. From that we set the span, height, glazing, zoning and equipment schedule, and quote the research house together with the wider commercial greenhouse range it is built from. We are a manufacturer in our own factory, and our engineers can travel to site to guide installation. Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: What is a bio-safety research greenhouse used for?
A: It is used for animal safety trials, biological safety testing, plant inspection and quarantine, and for teaching and demonstration experiments. Unlike a production house, it is built so that trials are repeatable and contained.
Q: How are the experimental compartments kept isolated from each other?
A: Each compartment runs as its own room with its own climate control, ventilation and irrigation zone, so that pollen, pests, water and spray cannot move between trials. Walls, doors and working width are set at the drawing stage.
Q: How is waste water and solid waste handled?
A: For safety-level work, waste water and solid material can be plumbed so that it is treated to a non-toxic state before leaving the site. A monitoring system logs conditions in every compartment.
Q: Can the greenhouse be locked and monitored?
A: Yes. Door registration systems are common on research houses, recording who enters which room and when, together with a computer monitoring system for temperature, humidity and light.
Q: Do you manufacture the greenhouses yourself?
A: Yes, we are a manufacturer, not a trading company. We have produced greenhouses in our own factory for over 35 years and export to more than 32 countries.
Q: What do you need from me to quote?
A: The trials you plan to run, the number and size of compartments, the set points you need to hold, the safety level required and your site conditions. From that we set the span, height, glazing, zoning and equipment schedule.
Note: If you're interested in the product, please submit your requirements and contacts and then we will contact you in two days. We promise that all your informations won't be leaked to anyone.
